Playing again

I seem to have a bit of a dilema, I'm a spinner and I always knit with handspun mainly because I am a slow knitter which sort of matches my spinning speed/time at the moment. Anyway, I am also the co-owner of a knitting shop which stock lots of lovely knitting wool that I don't knit with.....are you beginning to see my problem?
So, it's my turn to write on the knitting shop blog about knitting and the shops yarns...HELP!! I've already written 3 post about spinning as we stock basic drop spindles and small amounts of fibre so now its out into the big world of shop yarns.
So today I've been playing with some oddments from the shop and my embellisher just to make a start and I'm going to make a list of crafts other than knitting that I can use the yarns for. This is where you, my friends ,come in. Any ideas, I've been thinking braids, tablet weaving, maybe lacemaking I would welcome any suggestions.

    hi, an embellisher is a needle felting machine, if you check out the tags on the blog you should find links to previous experiments using it :-)

    Hi Sue, I'd love to read more about knit/felt - if you have suitable wooly yarn in the shop that might be a good one. Yes to tablet weaving - very curious about that.

    This store looks like such a yummy place to be in. As for the yarns, machine couching, twisted cords, tassels, crochet, and all kinds of things. I'd love a tenneriffe scarf from some of those yarns. Oooooh..... yummy!

    They are beautiful pieces. As a non-knitter (*gasp*), I just love wool... I love to look at it and feel it when I go to craft stores, but am never sure what I'd use it for... I'll see if I come up with anything for both you and me :)

    ...maybe NOW is the time to indulge in that inkle loom you were considering before :-)

    You can make narrow bands and stitch them together to make all sorts of stuff.

    Maybe a kumihimo disc too....

    ...braids are always useful....

    ..and tapestry...musn't forget THAT!...

    ...just a small wooden frame will do...and you can make some amazing landscape thingys with all those odd bits...

    Peahen..I've never tried knitting then felting but there some new wool in the shop that should work fine..will look into it
    Chris..I'm still hankering over the inkle loom,,may have to treat myself soon, and yes tapestry weaving..added to the list.

    Peahen,

    We do indeed have suitable yarn. Two different kinds in fact! One thicker yarn in muted tones and the other a thinner yarn in bright bright colours. Pop in and we'll talk felt :).
