Tour de Fleece day one and two, not where I expected to be :-)

 Hi,

This is a combined post as we packed the van and headed out to the coast to catch some cooler air, originally we planned to head home on Saturday, day one of TDF. but the forecast was good for Saturday so we stayed another night.

Bridlington was damp and quiet on our first day there but we headed out to the harbour as usual

After a quick chat with one of the fisherman from one of the boats we found that the dolphins had been in the bay so we headed up to the water edge to see if they were still around. Too far for my camera but there was a pod of dolphins leaping around. First time that we have seen them at Bridlington inspite of our regular visits !

The beach was empty, the temperature in Nottingham two days earlier had been 34C now, stood on the beach, it was about 14C.

The next day was warmer, I had to stay in the van for a telephone appointment so Ian headed off to catch the Yorkshire Bell for a 2 1/2 hr cruise up the coast. I managed to make it into town just before he boarded and found a comfy spot to spin and watch the boat sail by.

I had my coffee, my spinning (Ryeland) and was able to grab the above photo of the boat.

Meanwhile, the harbour was looking glorious in the sunshine showing how much difference a day makes.

The following day ended with rain but also a rainbow along with a sunset.

Now, the bit that some of you have been waiting for.. Tour de Fleece 2025 day one.

Started in the van, then continued at the Creative Collective Bridlington who currently have a pop up shop in the arcade at Bridlington. They sell items that are made by hand locally and provide space to sit and craft.

The fibre is merino/baby camel. I know that this is way outside of my usual spinning but I've had it for at least 13 years so \I though that I may as well us it.

Day two and back to my usual wheel, 50 gm Cheviot before I fell asleep.

  1. The Mister swears there are dolphins in the bay. He can see them when he's out on a boat but I've never seen them from shore.
The TdF projects are off to a good start. I've never spun camel before but I did do some Yak last year. I think it was last year. All the years are starting to blend together these days.
