new practice piece in bobbin lace

I had really forgotten how much I enjoy making lace, maybe it's because it is such an old craft and it connects me to women in the past? come to think of it, a lot of what we do has links way back in history so maybe we are all just part of one long line of people who love fibre, from the first person to twist a few strands of cotton/silk or flax together. Now I am rambling so had better think about getting ready for work.

Thanks for sharing. This is my first exposure to lace making. I'm intrigued.

You have lots of beautiful art and unique inspiration on your blog. Glad I found you. I'll be watching.

OMG This looks SO complicated. I can't wait to see your progress. I think I feel the same way about Dorset buttons - the connection with the past I mean.

I do admire your lace work - lovely!! I spend my days in the garden, we have the most beautiful spring weather - no sewing until the next rainy day!

Wow - you said exactly what I think when lacemaking - that feeling of being connected to a long line of women who did this work in the past. Is this piece Flanders Ground? Torchon?

for anyone who wants to know, its Bucks Point honeycomb ground.
