Lace Update

Just a quick post about my current bobbin lace progress. This one has now been relegated to a sample piece as I simply got bored making it :-)

But I did manage to finish this at the WSD meeting yesterday.

Busy Life

What with two bike rallies and a long weekend, any form of fibre craft has had to take a back seat for the time being. However I have been keeping some knitting in my bag and sat quietly knitting ( knit a row, knit a row etc ) at a celeih yesterday.
Now I don't think this will be a scarf but I do fancy adding some black felted flowers just to see what it looks like. ( yarn was spun on a drop spindle)

My blogging will probably be a bit erratic for the next few weeks but I will be around somewhere. Thanks for dropping by and have a good week.

Cornwall

The Armada Rally was wet but great fun, the location was the same as the two moons rally and can be seen here and here. As the usual suspects turned up, I will not bore you with the photos of drunken bikers :-)

However, I would like to show this one, taken during a very brief interlude in the rain. This is a road, not a footpath! reversing your car and finding a passing place are major driving skills in this part of the country.

have a great weekend everyone and thanks for your many comments, I will be in touch later next week once the pace of life slows down a bit.(and I have caught up on my sleep as I know I will be having little chance to get my head down over the weekend)

got there, eventually !!!

In need of a night out, we had booked to go to the Last Drop Rally early Saturday afternoon with the intention of meeting with our club chairman to finalise things for next weekend ( Armada Rally) and enjoying a few drinks.

Plans were sabotaged by the bike dumping the engine oil very quickly all over the bike and road a short way from home, fortunately no one was injured and a quick phone call was made to Saddlesore MCC who were organising the rally. At most of the rallies we attend there is a strict no bike-no entrance policy unless arrangements have been made with the club to attend in a car so a big thank you for letting us sling the bags and tent straight in the Skoda. ( after Ian mopped up the oil pool, twice!)

We missed Robbie but about 15 mins but were able to put our tent up in his spot and head for the bar.

Put any number of bikers with any quantity of beer and great silliness erupts including how do you eat the marshmallows hanging from your hat with your hand clasped behind your back?

Also had fun with bursting balloons , all big kids at heart.

The moon came out for us.

The banks of the river Severn proved to be the perfect site to pitch our tents.

A Big thank you to Saddlesore for organising this one, if you are reading this - see you in Cornwall next weekend :-)

And, Yes, I did take my drop spindle with me!!

spinning experiment

ok, it was only an experiment and the only use I have found for the yarn is knitting pan scrubbers although I am open to suggestions!

Just take several plastic carrier bags, cut into strips and spin :-)

guess the place answer

The photo was taken on Sunday in the underground Victorian water reservoir at Papplewick Pumping Station.

I just love the huge arches and the echoing sound was amazing.

The yellow colour is from the lights and the things hanging down from the ceilings are tree roots that have found their way through the gaps.

my thanks to everyone who had a guess :-)
