practise,practise,practise

I've not been feeling overly creative for the last couple of days so I've been doing a little more of this....
still practising leaves

still practising leaves

slow progress, will probably just be a sample in the end.

Tomorrow is time to shop for work shoes ( due back 14 April) and meet my sister for a gossip. Have a good weekend.

They look much better than mine! A lady on one of my lace groups told me that it tkaes a minimum of 1000 tallis to start to get them right. Another has said that all leaves in nature are different. I think these are wonderful. Looks fab in the two colours.

Handmade lace is so labour-intensive, isn't it? That gives it such value. There used to be a lace museum in the Norfolk craft centre where I had a shop, so I watched it being done, but have never tried it. I believe there's a lace museum in Nottingham - Have you been to that one and is it worth a visit?

not feeling very creative?????? This is amazing and exceptionally creative. If I lived closer I would be knocking on your door for lessons!

Sue - forgive me, "not creative"?! The nearest I would get to that exalted level of non-creativeness is, I live in Bedfordshire!

Among other things,my daughter and I have something in common - neither of us has a sister. Sometimes I think it would be nice. Your work is stunning. I would love to watch it being worked. So clever! It was a privilege to feature your work on my blog a while ago.Enjoy your warm house!

Hi Guzzisue,

Is that purled cotton on your bobbins? I'm working with it in size 12 on a black handkerchief edging.

Do you graft the ends to connect or end sections or do you knot?

I try to marry new threads and graft closed when I can. It takes a longer time to do but worth it for a nicely done piece. But I just knotted or sewed closed for a lot of years before that.

Your lace is just beautiful. Your tension is good and your stitches are even.

How long have you been making bobbin lace? I've been at it for over forty years.

Happy lace making.

Hugs, Euphoria
