Hi,
Pagan pride takes place in the Arboretum in Nottingham each August so I took the opportunity to head down there for the afternoon.
As I got off the tram a fellow spinner spotted the drop spindle in my backpack and we had a quick chat about wheels, spinning etc as we all do We swapped cards and I noticed that she sells her yarns at MidgardYarn on Etsy.
As we entered the park, live music filled the air and several teams of belly dancers, hoop dancers and some very young Irish dancers were in action.
There were some very interesting outfits around together with colourful hair dos
I wondered round the stalls, trying not to be tempted by the clothes and eventually settled under a tree for some gentle spinning.
Within 10 mins of setting up a photographer approached me with a big film camera on a body harness and asked of he could film me. I've no idea what this was for, maybe local TV but he actually concentrated on the wheel and my hands. I'll let you know if I spot this anywhere! maybe my hands will get famous hehe.
The view from my wheel.
As with any event like this, all the local photographers were out on force although none of them asked permission. I have found my photo on the face book site so I borrowed it, its by AJ Jamieson but I can't find a link to them. Still I hope they don't mind too much. ( it did say I could share etc as long as I gave credit)
Between catching up with friends and yet another spinner spotted the wheel I managed to finish the Jacob, about 2/3 of a bobbin which I will ply later this week. I must start looking for patterns for the next kep.
I was told that spinning and weaving were very spiritual things to do and were becoming very popular with the pagan community.
At some point in the afternoon a small girl built a shrine in front of the wheel complete with crocheted spider and webs.
And the photo? well here it is.....
....I really don't like seeing photos of myself!!!
