belated New Year Greetings

May I wish everyone a very belated happy New Year :-) The bug got me, went to bed 9.30 New Years Eve, didn't suface until yesterday and then only long enough for a shower and a small bite to eat!
I've been mooching around today as all the unintentional rest has sent my body clock wrappy and I've been awake since 3am except for a short nap.
So to all my friends who I haven't caught up with, I'm not ignoring you, and will try to get the year off to a better start next week.
On the upside, we did catch some bike racing on Sunday before all this happened :-)

Mablethorpe Sand Racing

Freezing, dull and breezy. Not a good combination for taking photos at a race meeting! Big thick gloves on , hat on, large coffee to warm hands on and a dash to the chippy after watching for instant hot food (chip butty) A few photos but nothing spectacular compared with previous ones taken there.

Ouch

Stitching temporarily suspended, typing this with one hand as I have tendon damage to the other. Should be ok very soon but I'm still taking painkillers.
Went to watch this on Sunday, photos a little shaky as camera held mainly with one hand.

Mablethorpe Sand Racing

It was the last sand racing fixture at Mablethorpe yesterday so we made the trek over to meet up with friend and also try out my big digital camera. I had a slight accident with the camera last week, I dropped it on the floor!! now it feels different when I use it so will maybe thinking about getting a new one especially since I have had this one for at least 3 years so really is getting a bit ancient.

The Race season has now closed until October and the beach will return to the day trippers and donkeys on Sunday mornings.

Once again, its sandrace time.

This time the photos are about the days when nothing goes right for some people..........Practise racing usually starts about an hour after signing on.

Today, nobody bothered to tell the sea!! this is nearly 2 hours after sign on!!
Some days its difficult to stay upright at all
Fortunately no one was seriously injured
sometimes the b**!*@r just will not start
and its a long push back to the paddock.

but the little'uns has a great time!

Scrap Challenge #1

The fun challenge from Fibre and Stitch discussion group came from comments on what people do with their scraps, especially since most people do not throw anything away. So we had 15 mins to gather scraps together and the challenge is to create without buying anything further. I metre additional fabric from stash is ok so is any embellishments, fusibles, etc.

I already had two plastic bags packed with scraps that had not been touched since earlier this year so decided that I would try and use these up simply to free up some space!!

So watch this space over the next couple of weeks to see if I come up with anything.....or maybe I will just open the bottle of whisky and put my feet up :)

The Bike Spot

Sunday 23 December is the last sand race at Mablethorpe before Christmas, if anyone is interested sign on is at 8am, racing generally a hour or so later depending on the tide. We will be there ,as long as it isn't tipping it down , so watch out for the MZ hats.

Thanks......

to everyone who left comments and e-mails recently, I am now getting over the worst of the wretched cold and I hope it clears before the weekend as we will be going to the sand racing again. Anyway the recent frost reminded me of these photos from last winter.

Normal service will resume

............as soon as possible, still raiding the tissue box, hot drink at the ready. Here's a design idea from one of my photos,

back with the bikes, well in this case quads at the sand racing. There must be some way of working with this, will think about whilst tucked up watching a film this afternoon.

Sandracing

Sunday proved to be sunny and warm for October, even on the east coast. It was also the first race day of the sand racing season at Mablethorpe. So we made the trek over, took our inflatable cushions and sat on the steps watching the bikes.
