Spell Book ?

not quite, each year I keep a holiday journal and since we will be heading north of the border, a celtic feel seemed to be appropriate.

Please excuse the dodgy photos but velvet seems to confuse my camera. The finished book is sort of darker blue than the photos.

out of retirement

my Janome has had to go to the machine doctors as the belt is slipping and a good service is also required so I have had to drag this one out of retirement. This was my first electric sewing machine purchased with a small salary bonus in the early eighties. Until then I had been using a hand operated singer that had belonged to my grandmother.
This machine saw me through shortening and patching jeans to learning free machine embroidery for C&G finally being replaced around 8 years ago. I had thought that it no longer worked and that was why I abandoned it ( I'm sure it didn't work) but with a few minor adjustments it's buzzing away.

well today I found the finshed bag whilst moving a few things in my room.

playing with shiny bits (City and Guilds use of metallic thread etc) part three

mostly machine embroidery, bottom sample (right) is a variation on the weave material into a plastic mesh bag (the kind you get fruit it) ! found some gold mesh and wove in some torn sari material.Will have a hunt for the bag that I made using this method.

It's dark and wet outside so I'm waiting for it to dry up before going to the library, mainly because I can't get anything waterproof over the frame on my arm because the sleeves are not wide enough.
