unexpected visitor

Hi

I wasn't expecting to post this early today and this isn't what I had in mind but I've been off work with a heavy cold which has given me time to watch the birds around the feeders. On Thursday this little chap turned up.

He was having a good root around until the dogs next door started barking, he stopped still, didn't curl up but just didn't move till they stopped to I went and had a closer look ( through the long lens)

I assume he/she is looking for somewhere to hibernate and he/she is definitely smaller and lighter in colour than the other one that we occasionally spot wandering round.

Delights and Disasters

I ventured out into the garden yesterday to check on some of our residents

This is our brand new fitted hallway carpet hanging out to dry :-(



We had noticed a mark on the hallway ceiling but everything appeared to be OK. On Friday I realised that the ceiling paper had rumpled in our main room so phoned a friend and asked if he could check the connectors on our hot water tank. As he moved the lagging, he realised it was full of water and moving it revealed a crack in one of the joints. The water had been leaking and then drying out in the heat, unfortunately once the lagging was removed the leak became a geyser and the tank emptied into the hallway.



We now have no central heating and no hot water until we can get this fixed :-(

The Jungle

Suddenly the cherry blossom has been and gone and our garden is slowly turning into a jungle. Today is a holiday so once the rain has stopped and assuming that the sun comes out, we will be trying to make some sense of the garden. I must admit that I am not a gardening fan, don't particularly enjoy it but it is a necessary evil as when we were house hunting, houses with garages were out of our price range but we were able to buy one with a garden big enough to build a garage (no access wide enough for the car but plenty of room for a bike even with the panniers on)

Meanwhile the good news is that we no longer have motorcycle exhausts cluttering up the main living room. They look so much better on the bike. The bad news on the bike front is that the starter motor for the Guzzi has died so we are hunting for a new one. This may result in us turning up for our own club Rally in a car!!

Yes, these are the most prolific flowers in our garden at the moment!!

The robins are nesting outside the kitchen window again but my decent camera is acting up so this is a photo of one of last years parents.
