and now for something completely different!!
I found these ladies standing in the shadows at the Mayday parade in Nottingham on Saturday. I was so fascinated by their appearance that I sat down and chatted about their outfits. They are the Urban Gypsies Tribal Belly Dancers from Manchester and all their costumes are made from recycled clothes and other bits and pieces including mopheads as tassels. I could easily have worn this sort of thing myself, in fact there is probably enough still hanging in my wardrobe to do this.
Does this make me an aging hippy? going back to an earlier age with the spinning and lacemaking?

Stunning costumes. Thanks for the photos.
Oh what fabulous costumes and pictures! Hope you don't mind me commenting, I hopped over from my blog via your Wonderwool Wales comment, for a visit. Take care O. xx
I wonder if their costumes are purely invented or if the are derived from a tribal tradition? The look like something from Morocco or Eastern Europe.
They look like they would be great fun to watch (or to join!)
Wow!!My 68'er heart loves these ladies and their costumes.......
Nothing wrong with being an ageing hippie LOL ;o)
