Gently exploring Cornwall,

A slow start to the week, taking time to recover from our journey and explore our new surroundings. The Manor house stands in the centre of a holiday village however everything is closed for the winter season so its just a few residents and visitors who are staying in the privately owned cottages and apartments.

The apartment we have rented is at the back of the building overlooking the courtyard garden, I'll grab a photo later as its a rather pretty area.

As the place is so quiet, nature is slowly taking over and on my walk around this little fellow was following me.

The view from the driveway is quite spectacular as we are only 1 1/2 mile from the sea but we are quite high up.

We the spent the first day driving the few miles over to Mousehole and had a wander around the lanes of this now quiet fishing village . We saw miles of traffic queues yesterday as all the holiday makers headed back home at the end of half term leaving much of the coast to the locals and occasional visitor

The harbour entrance is now closed, the main fishing town is Newlyn, just up the road and the harbour there had quite a few large fishing vessels in as we passed by.

We then made our way to levant mine to see how much remains to this day, the option to see the beam engine in steam has been cancelled due to damage from the recent storm but we were still able to wander round the remains of the buildings.

I love this mix of rusty browns

I suspect that this is the remains of hallway floor in a house

and this one is the pantry

Given that some of the building are just feet from the cliff edge, its impressive that any actually remain !
