We finally managed to pack everything ,including the kitchen sink, into the van and set out for a few days relaxation.
Again we have headed south both for the weather and to try and avoid the crowds that seem to be charging up to Scotland this year.
The roads were still busy but we didn't really have too far to go as our first stop was Brean near Burnham on Sea in Somerset.
After a misty start, the first day was spent walking over to the small funfair only to find that you had to buy ride tickets equivalent to £5 to enter even if you had no intention of going on a ride.
We had more luck on the next day as we found that with a £7 bus ticket we could go to Burnham then head over to Weston Super Mare and then back to the campsite, bargain!
We discovered that Burnham has a lot of beach and a short, stubby pier .
and some interesting paintings on walls.
Western Super Mare also has a pier with a rather nice cafe at the end.
Afternoon tea? don't mind if we do :-) |
